"Automobile Body Styles and Design"

Convertible
A convertible provides an open-air passage cabin for traveling in good weather and the protection of a retractable roof when weather conditions turn unpleasant! During the early history of the automobile, convertibles were the only types of cars available, most likely because they were based on carriages that were usually very open as well. Today, it is considered an automobile lifestyle choice best suited for warmer climates that we associated with fame and fortune. A few companies who make convertibles are Bentley, Ferrari and Rolls-Royce.

Coupe
Coupes are often the sporty variants of saloon cars, with doors reduced from four to two. The body style of the Coupe varies from car-maker to car-maker and one can look very, very different compared to another! Not many cars are like this and look relatively the same all the time and that makes this style pretty special. Some companies that make this style of car are Mercedes-Benz, Lamborghini and Lincoln.

Luxury Car
A luxury car is considered the peak of driving comfort and aspires to provide the most rewarding sensation of motoring. Based on the expense of early automobiles, the luxury car was one of the first vehicle types established. One key element of the luxury car is the price compared to conventional automobiles. The comfort level and technology that goes into this car is the reason for this price so it is obviously worth it in the long run! Also, new automobile technology is usually fitted to luxury cars first, like air conditioning and electric starters. Some companies that produce luxury cars are Ford, BMW and Hyundai.

SUV
Sport Utility Vehicles (SUVs) are built on a truck frame, and harness utility attributes and powerful engine performance. SUVs are often associated with toughness and their on-road and off-road handling manners. Originally constructed as four-wheel drive vehicles intent to handle off-road trails, SUVs have increasingly become the vehicle of choice for luxury-minded drivers with products like the Range Rover and Cadillac Escalade. In my opinion, Range Rovers are the nicest cars ever alongside MINI Coopers, so I can definitely see an SUV in my future. Some other companies that produce SUVs are Subaru, Mercury, and Mazda.

Hatchback
The body of a hatchback vehicle has a sporty design and functional improvements such as increased fuel efficiency and interior space. Some of the least expensive new cars on the market are hatchback’s because of their aerodynamic body shape and low weight that helps achieve strong fuel efficiency. Sport compact hatchbacks deliver excellent performance thanks to its unique high power-to-weight ratio. Some companies that produce this body style are Kia, Scion, and FIAT.

Automobile Design

1. How long can it take to design a car? What phase (or stage) do they start off with?

When designing a new vehicle, the manufacturers begin with the sketching phase and it typically takes about three years to complete. However, it varies between cars and companies.

2. Why is design called problem solving?
Automobile design is called problem solving because the manufacturers have an industrial design degree that falls under a fine arts profession degree but they are not “fine artists” in the sense that they can do whatever they want. They are always given a set of engineering constraints and a criteria that they must use to come up with a product that is aesthetically pleasing to the consumer that follows every aspect of the criteria. It is like problem solving because every idea has to fit a very specific spot like a puzzle piece, and even the smallest error can prevent the idea from flourishing.

3. What is the feasibility stage? (What do they have to match up?)
The feasibility stage is the biggest part of the production of a vehicle. They start by taking the sketches that look the best and try to evolve them into something that maintains the theme but also fits with the most important engineering points. This means that they can create and sketch an idea that seems amazing but when it comes to actually making it, it could be impossible. So, they have to be very careful of what is possible and when isn’t. In this phase, the manufacturers work closely with engineers, marketing and product planners to produce the best possible product for their consumers.

4. Do you think designing an automobile or other type of vehicle would interest you? Explain.
Yes, I think that I would be interested in designing an automobile or other type of vehicle because creating an idea and having it become a reality would be very exciting. There are many aspects of the automotive industry but I think that if I had a career in this department I wouldn’t hate it as much. I also would like it because it involves drawing!

Certification in the Automotive Industry

Certification in the Automotive Industry
  1. NATEF - Natef was made to help improve the quality of automotive technician programs nationwide.
  2. SGS - SGS was made to help everybody in the automotive industry improve performance and reduce risks.
  3. ASE - ASE was made to improve the quality of vehicle repair and service.

Jobs in the Automotive Industry
i would enjoy being a classic car restorer because i would like to take cars that are old, rusty and beat up, and turn them into something amazing. and be able to see what i did.

i dont want to be an automobile journalist because it would be boring to sit there and write reviews on cars all day.

"Careers in the Automotive Industry.

  • i think i would enjoy being able to know what is wrong with my own automobile and how to fix it.
  • i found it interesting how they check the air flow in a car
  • it is necessary because there will always be new electronics and other items added to cars that you are going to need to know how to fix or replace.
  •  some skills would be to learn to turn your wrist instead of turning your hole arm,.

"Careers in the Automotive Industry.

1. High-tech systems on automobiles today that were unheard of thirty years ago include stability and traction control systems, adaptive cruise control, variable valve timing and an electric car, hybrid, and plug in hybrid were not even thought of then.

2. unlike many other high-tech careers that require four, six, or even eight years of college, automotive technology careers can begin after just two years of education. lifelong learning and continuing education is necessary, nut students in automotive technology can get out into the real world sooner-and with less college debt.

3. the automotive repair and maintenance industry is expected to add 237,500 new jobs and have a thirty percent growth rate through the year 2020. this will make technicians one of the top twenty jobs with pretty high median earnings and the potential for significant job openings over the next decade.

4. one thing that the automotive technician careers is fsirly "immune" to that has threatened other careers is thata lot of jobs in departments like manufacturing, computer programming, customer  call-center work and accounting services all go overseas. automotive service and repair don't need to.

5. parts, parts distribution and wholesaleing collision repair, painting and damage estimating vehicle maintenance, repair and performance upgrades motorsports.

6. the role as an automotive technician is sometimes called "the portal career' because so many people have started their careers in the automotive aftermarket as an automotive technician that it can serve as a base to determine where your future career lies, and it is far from a dead-end career unlike most other careers.

tech for the sake of tech

No I was not surprised about it because they grew up without it in their cars so it would not make a difference to them. No i think my generation would feel different about it because we grew up with technology and that is what we know best. Yes this option is beneficial because it would make less car accidents because phone calls would go to your car instead of your cellular.

I think that it helps them and then i think that it makes them be able to take more risks. i think it helps because if they were not paying attention and something is infront of them the warning will go off and then they will pay attention but i also think it is bad because people will keep taking risks and if something goes wrong and it does not detect it and they get in a accident and it will be bad.

They are very important because if you have a phone built into your car and you get a phone call you can just answer it in the car and you can be talking on the phone and still be paying to where you are going.

One feature i would like to have in my car is to have internet in it and a built in phone.this is important to me because then i could use the internet to talk to family far away without costing me any money.

I think people would probably thought that a phone in car was a useless item for a car.

technologies and development

The Terrafugia TF-X is the one that i think is most unlikely thing to happen. i think this because it would be alot of work to make a car fly becuase they have to make sure that it would be light enough to fly but be strong eough not to fall apart while flying.

The one that would have the biggest impact of is the Ford's Driver Workload Estimator Technology. I think this because it would help people control their heart rate and make it so they don't take a heart attack while driving.

I think that the "A Drive in the Self Driving Car. I think this because in the new Lamborghini you can put it on cruise control and it detects where the lines are on the road and if there is a vehicle ahead of you and if there is red or green stop lights.

I think that it will help keep drivers and their passengers safe because it will indicate when the drivers heart rate is high and will tell them when the driver is close to taking a heart attack and will help them from getting in an accident.

I think it would be pretty cool but scary at same time. A benefit from this would be, you would not have to pay for a plane ticket cause you could just fly your car, another would be you would not be stuck in traffic. But a disadvantage would be if your car broke you would fall from the sky and could hurt yourself and/or other people.

I would rather not have the flying cars because I would not have to worry about something breaking and falling from sky but i guess it would not make a difference because i wouldn't have to fly.

automobile timeline

the part i found interesting was when they talked about drum breaks because they are so simple.
i found the part about the steel body car interesting because the can just cut it.
i found it interesting that airbags only became maditor in 1970's.
i found drum breaks cool.

HENRY FORD AND THE T-MODEL

The assemble line was changed to make the process faster, Employees stayed with FORD longer because things were easier and they didn't have to work as hard. The first Model T cost $850, it was made for the wealthy people. it dropped from $850-$200. the price probably dropped because they kept making the car and because there was more around. The automobile helped people transport.

"Carl Benz"

1.the auto mobile has been around for 120 years

2.A government authority or license conferring a right or title for a set period, especially the sole right to exclude others from making, using, or selling an invention.

3.Carl Benz used the title "the patent-Motor-wagon."

4. the wife of Carl Benz was the first to drive the invention in 1888 and the petrol station was born from this

5.it made it so that both wheels turned instead of just one.

Monster Mash

In my art painting i placed a penguin in as another decoration and the big blueish grey monster on the right side of the painting. I wanted a monster that looked like something that you would see on a cartoon show but that had a saddle like item on its back. The easiest part of this painting was putting my penguin in. The hardest part was trying to make it look like my monster was walking behind the trees.

Toon Town Photo Bomb

I put Hayden Jardines head on John Cena's body. No i have never thought about going to business in the film or documentary industry.

be true to your school

This design represents my school because it has my school mascot on the side.  The hardest part was getting rid of the white around the eagle on the bus, and the easiest part was putting the eagle on the bus. no i do not have any interests in digital art and design. no i would not want to do it for a job, because it is to complicated and makes me frustrated.

before the war

i picked this picture because it looked like it was going to be interesting to put the guys head back together. The background was the easiest part to do and getting the guys head back and making it look normal was the hardest part. I have never restored a photo or painted one. No i have never wanted to restore photos for a job or part time job.

freak of nature

I selected these animals because i like cats, and tigers are cool looking animals. The most challenging part was when i had to try and blend the cat in with the tiger. the easiest part was getting the cats head in the right spot.My creation does not look real at all. No i have never used photo Editing before.

Final Assignment: Digital Awareness Campaign

Don't use your phone while driving, every year the is 1.6 million car crashes due to people using the phones while driving. 330 000 injures occur because of the distracted drivers.

Journal Entry #7: Digital Access

The thing i found most surprising was, that smaller communities have faster internet than the bigger cities, i found most confusing the part where they say about people having fiber optic cables to have faster internet, yes i think everyone should have reliable fast access to the internet because then it would be easier to talk to a family member or friend that does not live close to you. no i am never concerned about my privacy online, i just never really thought about it and what i put on social medias. i have never worried about what i post and think that it might come back later in life and get me in trouble later in life because i don't post a lot of things on social media, its usually just pictures of my family or four-wheeler. i think that young people say thing online that they shouldn't and and they end up getting in fights over it.

Assignment #2: Privacy Please

  1. Voting should be done 100% online for both provincial and federal elections starting in 2017.
pros
- yes they should be online because it would be easier to vote
- it would help the help the people vote that are disabled or have no drive.
-it would give people in a seniors home a chance to vote
cons
- no because people could hack the system and be voting multiple times to help one person win.
- because somebody might make a mistake and press submit by accident and be voting for the wrong person.
- because the person that who is doing up the score and they could put more towards one person then the others.
  1. School report cards and daily attendance should be digital and passwords should be issued for parents to log in and check results.
  2. cons
- no because they would see if there child is doing bad even if the students mark is starting to go up.
- risk to people hacking it and changing the marks
- people that dont have internet wouldnt be able to see the marks
pros
-I think parents should be able to get a password and see there child's marks because then they would be able to see if there child is working hard in school.
- they would be able to make sure there child is not jigging classes.
-they would be able to see if there student is doing good on there tests and if not they would be able to say something to them and change things
  1. Schools in 2020 should be closed and teachers and students should begin learning in virtual classrooms using digital technology at home.
Pros
- students wouldn't have to get up as early
- students might get better marks if they can do it at home
-students would be able to think better if they don't have other students around them.
cons
-some teachers would loose there jobs.
- no social aspect.
- there would not be any extra curricular activities.

Assignment #1: Fast Internet Speeds in Canadian Small Towns

Some of the internet connections in rural communities have 1,000 megabits or 1 gigabit per second. they are getting faster internet because they have high-throughput fiber optic cables directly put into homes and business. They are fortunate because, they have a family owned internet company. The community came up with a plan to build its own fiber network, using government grants and loans connecting every home along the way When the community of Stafford opened their own data base everyone helped support it.Bell committed to wire up 1.1 million Toronto homes to fiber optic internet.I think small communities need faster internet more than ever is because we finally realized that the internet is useful and now we want it better than everyone's.The federal government has provided 305 million to get internet access to more communities.

Journal Entry #6: Digital Business

The thing i found most surprising is, that Pay Pal can keep your financial details private  for up to $20000 and that more people are beginning to shop online. Yes i have purchased a few things online, yes my family and friends have bought things online, nobody i know has had any problems with shopping online. yes i have sold a few things online.  the biggest problem is when people sell stuff online like  fourwheeler or dirt bike they wait until its gonna blow up and they sell it so it blows up on the next lad and they wont help the guy fix it.

Tuesday, 4 April 2017

assignment #2 pay pal

They keep your financial details secrete and don't share them with sellers, they can keep up to 20000 protected, you don't pay for any other fees, you only pay for the object that you are buying, and you can send money to almost anybody. They keep you financial details protected so nobody can find them out. Pay Pal charges the seller for everything they sell. They will refund the full purchased price and the shipping and handling cost. Yes if i started my own business i would allow Pay Pal because more people use pay pal and i would want every type of payment i could use.

"Assignment #1: Shopping Carts?"

The two biggest reasons people still shop at stores is because it is fast to get your items and for the socialisation between them and the workers. The biggest reasons people shop online is because what they want to buy may not be available in stores around them and/or they may not have a car to go to store with. I would go to the store to get my items because i could go for a drive to get them, i might see somebody i didn't see in a long time. Lastly because i would get my things faster. i think that in 2050 they will strike a balance, i think they will shop online for things like, car parts, clothes, games and things like that but they will go to the store for things like couches, tables, and shelves. Yes i think this is a smart business plan because most people send emails or text messages now, not to many people send mail. They cold make return process free shipping and make it so that it does not take a week to just return it and another week to get a new one.

"Journal #5: Digital Wellness.

What I found most surprising was that technology leads to Obesity and health decline because everybody is so interested in there phones that they eat junk food more than taking the time to cook a good healthy meal. I think that the biggest issue is the people who text and drive all the time even tho it leads to accidents and injury's/deaths.

Wednesday, 29 March 2017

"Assignment #2: The Pledge."

I pledge to not use my phone all day everyday
I will limit myself to only a couple hours a day of technology
I will get exercise everyday
I will get a good amount of sleep everyday
i will use technology appropriately

Assignment #1: One Mississippi

The meter sticks show you how far you would travel in a car if you took your eyes off the road for even just a second. The video may be effective because some people may worry about hurting them selves or other because of there phones and it may not change anything because if the people did not experience it they will think that it wont happen to them and they will keep being on there phone while driving. On star is an invention that helps that because you can call people on the car phone and you can also voice activate it so that u  can pick a person and say what you want to tell the person and the car will send it to them for you. Yes i will speak up and tell them because i do not want to takea riak of hurting my self or others because of his/her mistake.

"Journal #4: Netiquette."

  •    I found most surprising that a lot of the ways we should act online is the way we should we should act in real life. No I do not think online users concern themselves about the terms of service/user agreement when joining a site or online service, nobody knows the terms of service agreements because we all just click continue or submit or continue without reading them because they are really long and nobody wants to sit there and read them for 30 minutes. I would rate myself at like a 8, i'm not  perfect but i do my best to not say something mean or rude online and to say something that might insult someone. the thing i think that is the biggest issue online would be the cyber bullying, it happens all the time online and it needs to stop.

    Activity #3 Netiquette

Looking at the policy i find it very boring and does not make me wanna read it. my first suggestion is that they should make it into a presentation, my second suggestion is that they should sum it up, and my last suggestion is that they should change the font type to make it more interesting.

activity #2 netiquette Do as i say

    • I will not hack others because i don't want to get in trouble
    • I will not cyberbully because i don't want someone to do it to me
    • I will be friendly online so that  no one will fight with one another in real life
    • I know that a lot of money goes into music and music videos, the artist need to be paid for there work.
    • People don't appreciate rude or hateful comments on statuses that they feel are important.

you don't own what you bought
they can turn your phone into an expensive brick
    On-star is narcing you out
I-tunes knows who you are and what your doing

Journal #3: Digital Rights and Responsibilities

I found most surprising, all the rules that there is online, instead of just doing what you want. No, i do not think most people act responsibly online, a lot of people hack, download things illegally, and cyber bully. The commandment i think that is most important that i created is, Thou shalt not cyber bully, i think it is most important because, when you cyber bully people don't ignore what you are saying and they take it to heart and they either hurt them self, or go through a stage in there life where they are depressed. The biggest issue around digital rights and responsibilities is people cyber bullying, you see it n TV, or Facebook all the time, about a young person getting cyber bullied online.

    Tuesday, 28 February 2017

I found that most surprising thing was that you should sign the bottom of an email to make it more official and to always name the title with what ever you are going to talk about so it will get read. BCC Blind Carbon Copying is a useful way to let others see an email you sent without the main recipient knowing. The most important thing is to alway title your emails and sign your emails.

    "Journal #1: Digital Security"

I found that simple passwords are not the safest, because other people can figure them out and get on your things. This section was not confusing to me it was just confusing trying to figure out how to use this computer and blogI do not think my passwords are secure at all because everyone of them was on those lists and i am going to have to change them all so that nobody can get on my devises and other things. The most important thing to remember is that you should always put numbers and capitals and sometimes quotation marks in your password that way nobody can guess them and get on your things.

    Wednesday, 22 February 2017

    digital security (assignment one)

1.Would you say the passwords listed as the worst are easy to guess or hard to guess and why? (2)
Yes they are easy to guess because they are simple and they are ones that would be easy to remember. 2.Have you ever used any of these passwords? If yes how do you feel about this list? If NO why not? (2)
Yes i have used one and i am using it right now, I feel like i should probably change my password so nobody can get on.

3.Do you think seniors and adults are more likely to use these passwords? What can we do to save them some disastrous consequences if they do? (2)
No i do not think seniors and adults are more likely to use these passwords. If we know a senior or adult that has them we should find them another password that they can remember.

4.Can you think of three extra horrible passwords not found on this list? (3)
    2580     username      password123

5.How long should a modern password be to be called strong? (This might be a trick quest) (2)
There is no certain length it should be, it should just be something that you can remember and that nobody will guess and should have characters and numbers and capitals.
